Programs of the American Legion Auxiliary:

The American Legion Auxiliary mission consists of the following 5 points.

  • To support The American Leigon and it's programs for veterans, young people and the community
  • To provide for today's nneeds while being advocates for a brighter future
  • To advance the understanding of patriotism and responsibility of citizenship
  • To promote individual integrity and family values
  • To ensure, as volunteers, that Auxiliary members continue to promote all that is good in the nation today, tomorrow and for generations to come through serving others first and not self.

It's within these points that the Auxiliary continues to support The American Legion by organizing and supporting the following Auxiliary programs.

Americanism

This is the program directed at todays youth community. The American Legion Auxiliary works hard to further instill a strong sense of patiotism in the youth community. The Americanism program is further broken down into the following specific programs.

  • Americanism Youth Conference
  • Spirit of Youth Fund
  • Flag Etiquette
  • Citizenship Programs
  • Girl Scout Achievement Awards
  • Essay Contest

 

Children and Youth

The children and youth program has 3 main objectives. 1). Strengthen the family unit. 2). Maintain awell-rounded youth programs and 3). Support other organization which server children and youth.  Within this program are the following sub programs:

  • Substance Abuse Prevention
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Family Support
  • Child Safety Immunization
  • Children's Miracle Network
  • Girl's State/Girl's Nation

Veteran's Affairs and Rehabilitation:

Veteran's affairs and rehabilitation is the program of veterans serving other veterans, their widows and widowers and their children and orphans. This organization is in place to help veterans find answers to quesitons regarding benefits and medical care. The specific sub-programs within this programs are:

Legislative

Legislative programs are meant to give an official voice to the nation's veterans in the nation's legislative system. This is accomplished through the strong grassroots lobbying and dedicated professional staff. This program and it's staff works with congress to advance the legislative mandates for veterans and their familites.  State Legislative Web Site is located here.

National Security

The national security program is meant to support the nations efforts toward maintaining and enhancing the nations security infrastructure. The sub-programs of this program are:

Education

The education program exists to work for the rights of veterans to have equal opportunities for employment, job training, small business and vocational rehabilitation.

  • Scholarships and Grants
  • American Education Week
  • Veterans in the Classroom

Community Service

The community service program exists to support and strengthen the local community through involvement and support of community activities and civic groups.

  • Blood Drive/First Aid
  • CPR Training
  • Help for the Homeless and Elderly Victims of Abuse
  • Environmental Protection
  • Community Beautification
  • Crime Prevention
  • Neighborhood Watch Programs
  • Make a Difference Day
